Bob Howard Toyota invites you to learn why your vehicle air conditioning is not working correctly.
Your vehicle’s air-conditioner stopped working likely because of a freon leak or a failing compressor. While these causes are the simple to spot reasons for your air-conditioner not working inside your car, a bad compressor belt or a dirty cabin air filter could also be the culprit. No matter why or how, when you are counting on the sweet relief of ice-cold air it can be extremely irritating when it doesn’t come through. Don’t sweat it though, because our well-versed technicians know what to look for and are there to get your car prepared before the first heat wave arrives.

The most likely reason the AC stopped working is the car’s air-conditioning started leaking. The car’s air-conditioner unit needs a freon to cool the ambient air temperature which creates some refreshing cold air. Anytime there is a freon leak on your car there is no way to cool the air. Another reason that your AC isn’t producing cold air is because the vehicle is a hybrid. The AC system is powered by the engine, the air-conditioner won’t be getting any power if your car is using EV mode and the engine stops running.

If the AC is on and the fan stopped working then there might be a blown air-conditioner fuse. These fuses help protect components of a vehicle from a power surge and while it might just need to be repaired, however, if your AC fuse continues to pop then it’s possible there could be a larger issue at hand. There’s also a chance that the car’s AC Compressor could be suffering from a low level of AC refrigerant or a possible leak that needs to be looked at.

If the AC starts leaking, you can tell by damp spots in your vehicle or puddles under your vehicle when it’s parked. When your AC is producing cold air into your car, it has to displace all of that moisture it absorbs from the outdoors and should leave through the evaporator drain. This can also be caused by the AC Refrigerant level being too low which leads to the evaporator coils freezing up and an overflow of condensation. You should also keep an eye out for faulty seals in the air-conditioner compartment or the air-conditioning’s air filters just in case the problem continues to occur.
